Courage isn’t the absence of fear.
It’s being afraid and taking action anyway.
Thanks for visiting my webpage. I’ve tried to make this site as straightforward as possible so that you can learn a little about me, who I am and how I work.
I specialize in working with couples, with trauma victims, with people confronting issues involving grief, death and dying and with mothers experiencing postpartum depression. I also work with people who have depression and anxiety. If you don’t think you fit one of these categories, that doesn’t mean I can’t work with you. Call or email me and we can determine if we’re a good fit.
As a marriage and family therapist, I work mostly from an attachment perspective. That means that I believe our earliest attachments with our caregivers flavor our relationships in later life. That also means that I believe we are created to be in relationships with other people and when those relationships don’t go well, we can let our emotions run our behaviors. That can make us feel out of control.
For those reasons, I especially love working with couples. Couples therapy can be scary and hard work, but it also has huge rewards. My style of couples therapy is called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) which is an attachment-based, empirically tested method of doing couples work. With all of my clients, I would say that my style is based on acceptance, empathy, curiosity and a bit of humor.
I am currently only on the Cigna/Evernorth insurance panel. If need be, I can provide you with a superbill, which allows you to be reimbursed for therapy fees after the fact. Please check with your insurer first to find out what your deductible is and if they will accept a superbill. My fees are $140 per hour, for both individuals and couples.
If you’re ready to take action, to take the first steps toward growth and fulfillment, call or e-mail me. I look forward to hearing from you.
